Graduates join Sure Languages team

As part of the Step graduate placement programme, Sure Languages has welcomed two full-time graduates to its Exeter team. For an initial period of 8 weeks, the graduates will have the opportunity to work on key projects and business development activities, helping to shape the future of Sure Languages.
Furthermore, the placements will provide the graduates with valuable business experience and transferrable skills that will be greatly beneficial to their careers, allowing them to grasp new knowledge and insight, along with the opportunity to improve their CV’s.

This is a fantastic opportunity for us both, and one that will be extremely beneficial for our careers. Gaining such hands-on experience is a unique prospect, and we hope that we can enhance our own experience by being highly productive for the company” says James, one of SL’s new Step graduates.

It’s been another fantastic year for Sure Languages. So many things have made it special, but here are some of the highlights:
- In just over 8 weeks, we successfully completed a 5-language project of more than half-a-million words
- We relocated to new offices on campus at Exeter University, giving us the right environment and space in which to grow and develop
- We put roots in the area and developed relationships with a number of local companies and organisations, both big and small
- We welcomed new people to both our in-house and global languages teams
- We translated, interpreted, consulted and created for new clients in the UK, Europe and beyond, including ACCION International, Matalan, University of Exeter, Rank Group, and many more
- We strengthened our relationship with one of the world’s largest language providers, allowing us to participate in long-term, challenging projects and to translate for many prestigious global clients
- We survived a deep recession where many of our competitors have failed – testament to the high-quality work our team produce
- We made it as a national finalist in the Dell Business Excellence Awards, won two prestigious FSB business awards and even got to rub shoulders with royalty!
We would like to thank all of our clients, staff and linguists for helping to make 2009 a success. We look forward to making 2010 even better.
Dell Small Business Excellence Award

| Sure Languages has been shortlisted as a top 10 national finalist in the 2009 Dell Small Business Excellence Awards. |
The award honours the nation’s most innovative small and mid-size businesses, and everyone at Sure Languages is delighted to have made it this far. The UK winner will be announced in September and will go on to compete globally against 12 other country winners.

Continued success

We are delighted to announce that sales increased by more than 130% in our 2008/09 financial year, compared with the previous year. Despite the economic troubles, Sure Languages has continued to grow and develop its customer base, which is testament to the high-quality services provided to its clients.
It’s been a fantastic year for Sure Languages: They successfully relocated to Exeter University’s Innovation Centre, won awards for business excellence and even got to rub shoulders with royalty!

Double win at business awards!

Sure Languages is delighted to announce it won two prestigious awards at the FSB Business Awards on Friday night. The firm beat tough competition to win the top spot in the ‘Best E-Business’ and ‘Best New Business’ categories.
Paul Bickham of Sure Languages said “We’re extremely happy to have won these awards. They recognise all of the hard work that went into the planning and execution of our business, as well as the continued efforts towards its ongoing development and exceeding the expectations of our customers”.

Sure Languages in the running for two business awards

We are pleased to announce that Sure Languages has been short-listed for two business awards. The FSB Devon Business Awards 2009 judges have short-listed our company for the ‘Best New Business’ and ‘Best E-Business’ award categories.
This isn’t the first time Sure Languages has been put forward for an award. In 2007, Dragons' Den star Theo Paphitis declared Sure Languages winner of the UPS Business Award for its commitment to customer service and the community.
Sure Languages is the only business to be short-listed for two awards and we hope to scoop at least one of them at the ceremony in June.

Official opening with Princess Anne
27 April 2009
Today saw the official opening of the Innovation Centre. Princess Anne officially opened Phase II of the centre in a ceremony attended by staff, academics, business representatives and local politicians.
Along with other Innovation Centre tenants, Francesca, Translation Director at Sure Languages, had the opportunity to meet with Princess Anne at the event. “It was a great opportunity to meet the Princess Royal”, said Francesca. “We all had the opportunity to speak with her and she showed genuine interest in our respective businesses”.
Home to Sure Languages since the beginning of 2009, the Innovation Centre meets the diverse needs of high-growth, knowledge-based enterprise at Exeter University’s Streatham Campus.

Sure Languages featured in ‘Talking Business’

New base at Innovation Centre

Exeter University’s prestigious Innovation Centre is now home to language translation company Sure Languages. The Innovation Centre, situated on the beautiful Streatham Campus, is home to a number of research, knowledge-based and high-technology companies.
Sure Languages is one of the latest businesses to join the development. The new facilities will ensure that they can continue to support the local business community whilst expanding UK and international operations. It also provides the perfect base for Sure Languages to research and develop innovate solutions to support international commerce and multilingual communication.
